A Shared Adventure with Cape Cod’s Apex Predator

The Open Boat White Shark Charter offers individuals and smaller groups the chance to join others aboard a shared vessel to experience Cape Cod’s top marine predator up close. Operated by Outermost Harbor Marine (OHM) in partnership with the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy (AWSC), this charter provides the same educational and thrilling experience as our private charters.

Guided by a spotter pilot and accompanied by an OHM Captain and an AWSC naturalist, this experience provides a rare, firsthand look at these incredible animals—and the science driving their conservation.

While on board, guests can participate in Citizen Science by logging shark sightings in the Sharktivity App, using a hydrophone to detect tagged sharks, and recording observations that support AWSC’s research.

Trip Details:

• Shared charter – individual tickets available (up to 6 passengers total per Coast Guard regulations)

• Cost: $500 per person

• Deposit: $200 due at booking

• Season: July 6 – October 13 (weather permitting)

A minimum of 4 - 5 passengers is required, depending on the vessel, for an open boat charter to run. If the minimum is not met, you will be notified in advance.

Minimum Capacity for Trip to Go:
We will have two boats available in this time slot to fill for open boat charters. We need the first boat to be full (5 or 6 guests) for the trip to run. For the second boat to run as well, we will need at least 4 guests on it.

Price Outline (Include Deposit Amount):
This trip is $500 per person. A deposit of $200 will be required upon booking. Final payment will be due at the end of the charter.

Gratuity for your captain and naturalist is encouraged but not required. Customary gratuity is between 18 and 25% dependent on your experience, and this will be split evenly between the team onboard. Gratuity can be paid at the end of the trip by card, cash, or Venmo.

Refund/ Cancellation Policy:
Deposits are refundable up to one week prior to your trip, with a $50 cancellation fee. If you cancel within one week of your trip, your deposit is fully non-refundable.

If the date and time you selected do not reach the minimum number of bookings to go, we will refund your entire deposit.

If we cancel a trip due to inclement weather or poor conditions, we give our customers the option to reschedule their trip. We do our best to reschedule, but we cannot guarantee a rescheduled trip. If a trip canceled by AWSC due to weather cannot be rescheduled, a full refund of the deposit will be made. While we set our trips up to succeed, we cannot guarantee a shark sighting. If you do not see a shark, we do not reschedule your trip and final payment will be due at the end of your trip.
