White Shark Community Outreach & Programming

Our education team is always looking for opportunities to share white shark research with the community. We offer community lectures that provide an in depth look at white shark research efforts, and can adapt the program to work with all ages.

We also look to participate in community events or festivals, where we can set up a table and learning experience for families to engage. Below is a list of community groups we have worked with in the past to bring shark research to the community:

  • Library groups

  • Newcomer meetings

  • STEM fairs

  • Council of Aging programming

  • Scout programs

Headed to the Beach this Summer?
Look for our Shark Smart Beach Program!

Since 2020, the AWSC has worked with local towns and the Cape Cod National Seashore to bring shark education to beachgoers. Our Shark Smart Beach Program puts trained educators on the outer cape beaches to answer beachgoers questions about white shark activity and research efforts. Our booths teach beachgoers how to access resources such as the white shark logbook and Sharktivity app, so beachgoers become familiar with how they can access up to date information pertaining to white shark movement.
