Our latest Shark Heroes feature of John Chisholm has to do with a peculiar situation that happened on Naushon Island near Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts, USA.  In 2004, a great white shark became stuck in a salt pond for 14 days!

The shark was named "Gretel" by the public, and she was the first great white shark tagged in the northwestern Atlantic Ocean.  She was eventually coaxed out of the pond by fisheries workers and local fishermen through a shallow narrow gap which connects the pond with the ocean.
