Why we need sharks

Sharks are considered a keystone species, meaning they are absolutely integral to the ecology they inhabit. Without sharks, or with reduced numbers of sharks, a marine ecosystem can shift so dramatically that others species may cease to exist.

Why our research is critical for cape Cod

Our ocean is probably the singular most important source of livelihoods here on Cape Cod. Our understanding of Atlantic great whites will allow us to adapt our culture and our economy to thrive while we safely coexist with sharks.
